As expected, David Pressman, the US ambassador to Hungary, made an appearance at Saturday’s Pride parade in Budapest. Our photographer Gabor Banko captured the parade with an American flag in hand and a big smile on his face.
Openly gay Pressman gave a wide-ranging speech at the launch of Pride Month in which he said, among other things, that “persecuting people in exchange for votes is nothing new in this country,” and he discussed freedom and love. Two very important things.
The procession started at Vajdahunyadvar in Városliget at 3pm on Saturday, the procession will return there, and the performances will continue until 8pm.
